by admin on Sep.28, 2010, under Honda
At the 2010 Red Bull FIM Motocross of Nations held at Thunder Valley Raceway in Lakewood, CO on September 25-26, Team USA dominated the competition, clinching the team’s 21st Motocross of Nations victory and sixth straight win. Honda Red Riders Andrew Short and Trey Canard filled two of the three spots on the team that took on and beat the best riders from around the world and they did it aboard their Honda CRF450R and CRF250R race machines.
With Honda Red Bull Racing’s Short competing in the MX3/Open class and GEICO Powersports Honda’s Canard in the MX2 class, both riders dominated their qualifying races on Saturday and went into Sunday’s race on top in the points. In the unique team competition where 250cc and 450cc machines compete side-by-side, Short scored 13-2 finishes and Canard went 12-7, which combined with MX1 class rider and Team Captain Ryan Dungey’s 1-1 result, was enough to secure Team USA’s overall win.
“This is definitely one of the greatest moments in my career,” said Short. “There is no better feeling than representing and winning for your country and to do it in front of my Colorado home crowd is just awesome. I was really happy with the way I raced my qualifying race on Saturday and felt confident heading into Sunday’s races. I got two great starts in both races on Sunday but ran into some problems early on in race one when I was hit by another rider and went down hard, breaking my clutch lever. I got going again and was outside the top 20 but worked my way back to finish in 13th place. The second race I was again fast out of the start gate and I had the lead but I knew my teammate Dungey was coming on strong so I let him by and rode a good race behind him for second. Being on top of the podium with Trey, Ryan and the whole crew of people who made Team USA such a success is a memory I will not soon forget.”
Motocross of Nations rookie Canard rallied the support of the patriotic crowd as he diced his way through the pack to earn his first-ever Team USA victory.
“It’s been a dream 2010 season for me,” said Canard. “First winning the 250 Motocross Championship and now adding the Motocross of Nations victory. The amount of support we received from the fans in Colorado was unbelievable. The roar of the crowd followed us around the track with every lap, and as we got closer to the end of the competition the cheering got louder and louder. It’s truly an honor to be a part of this team and I’m just so happy we were able to win on home soil.”
Following Team USA was Belgium in the runner-up spot, and then Germany in third place.

Ducati 848EVO Thumps its Supersport Competition
by admin on Sep.24, 2010, under Ducati
Motorcycle News has completed a comparison of the new Ducati 848EVO against some of its Supersport rivals – the Triumph Daytona 675 and the Yamaha R6. Although the Ducati is really an entry level Superbike rather than a true Supersports machine, with prices starting at $12,995 it isn’t a totally unrealistic cross shop. As the [...]
